MINI DH
GRADE: 4 LENGTH: 0.4KM
BUILT: in 2015 by Southstar Trails, commissioned by Rotorua Mountain Bike Club.
GETTING THERE: Entry is at the highest point of Radio Hut Rd. Just along from the entry to the Challenge Block trails.
TRAIL DESCRIPTION: At the trailhead there is an immediate left and right fork. The trail to the left is Arepa Loop - Take the right fork then there will shortly be another right fork for the Te Huinga trail (also called 'Genesis Roadside trail' in reference to the old Genesis trail that used to run through this block). At this point you'll take the fork to the left (which is effectively straight ahead) to get on the Mini DH trail.
The trail is predominantly downhill, with several features which more experienced riders can jump if they choose. There are either easier lines around the features, or the features are designed to be able to roll over at low speed as well as launching them at high speed.
The drops and jumps are designed to allow riders to learn how to ride these types of obstacles before progressing to the much harder Taniwha downhill track.
GETTING OUT: The trail ends on the tar seal section of Nursery Road. Turn left to the Dodzy Skills Park or Long Mile carpark. Turn right to head up the gravel of Nursery Road towards challenge block and the Waipa MTB carpark.
