B RUDE NOT 2

GRADE: 3   LENGTH: 2.7KM

BUILT BY: Mark Smith in 2003 as part of a new wave of trail building. The top section was rebuilt 2011 after logging.

GETTING THERE: Starts from the intersection of Pipeline, Direct & Red Tank roads (where the water fountain is). Tickler and The Wash Trails deliver you to the B Rude Not 2 trail head, and Sweet-n-Sour Trail finishes just opposite an entry point 100 metres in from the start of the trail. The exit from Hot X Buns was designed to point you straight at the entrance (at high speed).

TRAIL DESCRIPTION: In 2010/11 there was a major amount of harvesting in the area and the Rotorua Mountain Bike Club took the opportunity for a full rebuild of the first section.
Part of the brief was to retain the shape and length of the original and in this the Club, along with Mark, have created another masterpiece.
The original B Rude Not 2 defined fast and flowing and that is improved in version 2 – lots of berms and jumps take you quickly through young pine forest. The second section, through mature pines, is quite different in character, becoming more rooty and slower – the perfect balance to the first section. It’s a favourite of many riders in Whakarewarewa Forest and handles wet weather well so is a good choice to ride after rain.

GETTING OUT: There are three exit options, from the junction a few hundred metres past a hump-wooden “bridge” combo; 1) turn left to end up opposite the start of Mad if you Don’t Trail. 2) Turn right and keep going straight ahead, to the start of Pig Trail opposite the exit. 3) Turn right then right again, and after a 300 metres or so the trail exits on a road – cross this and follow the side road to the beginning of Lion Trail.
