Grade 3. Length 1.3 KM. Built in 2006 by Murray Avery, Mark Smith & RMTBC. Access: over Yellow Brick and up Sandy Skid. You can also get to this from Split Enz but what was Pondy DH is a bit of a bomb site after recent logging - the digger's been through to clear it so it is now ride-able.

This trail highlights some of the most sensible trail planning & design in all of Whaka Forest. Combine this with masterful implementation - oh la la!
Pondy New creates a wonderful loop connecting Split Enz and Pondy Downhill to Roller Coaster. I defy you to come up with better piece of XC riding in NZ. I salivate while writing about it. Seems 40+ riders agree - rating this the best outback trail in the forest.
Well built to handle all weather with the odd puddle. Nothing that should stop you riding this winner all year round.
Special thanks to Murray Avery for making our forest a better place.

One of the second generation trails designed to be neither too steep nor too flat. A guaranteed good ride, even the day after heavy rain.
