Loop Length: approx. 4.5km

Trail grades: 2

Notes: There are sections where you could choose slight variations to get to the next trail. e.g. On Tahi there are a couple of options which will still get you to the right place to get onto the next trail. Save this till you and your junior riders have mastered the signposted main Kid's Loop.

Here is a PDF map that will help find the way round. Kids Loop Map.

Kid's Loop: Officially designated as a suitable Kid's Loop this circuit of some of the most popular trails is a proven winner with the kids, as well as kids at heart.

From the Waipa MTB Carpark, cross the bridge into the forest and the beginning of the loop is 20m away on your right. Follow the bright yellow signs (sponsored by Pak'nSave, with their stick man character) like the example in the photo below:

It really is as simple as following the signs which will lead you through Tahi and The Dipper trails.

The trail surface is fast-rolling, hard-packed dirt - ideal for little wheels for even the youngest of trail riders. Although the distance isn't great and the climbing is minimal, there is still enough there to challenge young riders. Don't expect it to be a flat easy ride, this is real mountain biking!

As well as the flowing trails, make sure to stop occasionally to appreciate the forest, the Californian Redwoods towards the end of the loop on Tahi Trail are spectacular!
