It was a bit cool and there was the threat of rain but around 200 riders had a ball...
Then we all went back to the Pig and had...a ball.
Thanks to all the sponsors, the volunteers who made it happen and to everyone who had a go...

• 2009 AGM...
...was held at Pig & Whistle at 7PM on Wednesday, March 11.

In the absence of a President, Paul Laing agreed to chair the meeting.
With 14 RSSSs in attendance the meeting opened at 7.05 and concluded at 7.21. We hope to stream line it next year.
Paul summarised the past, quite successful year:
• NZ Champs in April.
• Worlds fund-raiser in July.
• Adoption of Rock Drop (recce, map of proposed re-routing and application to forest managers is done - anyone interested on being on the work crew, please get in touch with marcus@marcusdiprose.com) and recces and paperwork on proposed red2blue trail from Forest to Blue Lake and proposed extension of this to high line Blue Lake walking track out to Green Lake.
• The minutes of the 1st set up meeting on 12/11/2007 were closely scrutinized and approved (moved Sullivan; 2nd Todd).
• Apologies were recorded. (Everyone's really, really sorry...).
• Financial records were passed around - the Society has a surplus of $877 and change from 2008 activities - and approved (moved Todd; 2nd Ardern).
• Election of officers: Gary Sullivan's long-running campaign to be President was successful (he will now attempt to break his own record of least meetings attended by a club president set when he was boss of the RMTBC back in the day).
Treasurer: Carolyn Scherger.
Secretary: Marcus Diprose.
Committee: Alden Ardern, Mark Dyer, Paul Laing, Rick Todd, Jason Williams (Tony Pike arrived after the meeting had closed and expressed interest in being on the committee). Carolyn and Graeme saw Simon Kerr at Zippy's the next morning and appointed him Honorary Vice-President).
Meetings to be held at Pig only when necessary.
• 2009 Subs
The next membership year will be from April 1 09 to 31 March 10.
Gaz presented a very cool sub form. This can be downloaded now - just scroll to the bottom of this page. Please print extras and pass them around and give them to your local bikes shops etc.
Sub is $30 and you get a choice of a free cap or a beanie - 1 size fits all.
• Pig & Whistle NZ Singlespeeds
- coming up fast. Surplus money will go to the RSSS, so get entering and tell others to do so as well. If you don't want to race get a Party Animal ticket and come along and have a few laughs.
• There was an agenda item "Club Awards" but no one could remember what that was for.
• There was no general business and so Paul closed the meeting.

WEDNESDAY NIGHT RIDES: are on again from Waipa carpark...
WEATHER UPDATE... more rain on the way - draw your own conclusions about state of trails!
TRAILS:...muddy and wet - so no braking on Old Chev!!
Core trails like Genesis, Challenge and Creek are holding up well. So is Old Chevy, most of Pondys and BRN2.
Richie's doing good work on RollerCoaster - well worth riding all of it, not just the section at end of Pondy.
Soakhole in Tokorangi Pa triangle, in north of core network, is riding really well - it's a great Winter trail. That's old-school, but the new trail that intersects it - Turkish Delight - is also working well because of pumicey ridge line location.
South facing trails are all struggling with less sun when it does come out - though recent southerlies are doing their big hair-dryer thing!
Here's a tip: ride a trail you haven't been on for a while.
