RCA is a group formed to help create a safe environment for cyclists in Rotorua, and to promote the idea of riding bicycles to as many people as possible.
Bicycles are a very important part of a sustainable future for Rotorua. Bicycles are non-polluting, efficient, healthy, fun and inexpensive machines unaffected by the escalating price of fuel.
And bicycles need a safe place on the road and the cooperation of other road users.
Join CAN now to add your voice to our call for a better environment for cycling in Rotorua.

RCA is starting 2010 off with a focus on Cycling in Schools..
The East side Schools project concentrates on the four schools in the Lynmore - Owhata neighborhoods and involves enhancing and promoting the safety and visibility of key school cycling routes in the area.
One component of the programme involves improved bicycle access at school entrance ways, with reduced traffic speeds and new off road cycleways where necessary.
Improved facilities for bike storage and security at schools are also proposed.
There is now written support from all four schools for the Cyclijng in Schools programme - and on the 3rd of February 3 RCA will be doing some 2-wheeled reconnaissance to collect data for presenting our proposal to council.
By design, this project meshes perfectly with the "Rotorua in Gear' programme promoted by BikeNZ [MORE INFO].
RIG aims to establish Rotorua as a national cycle city, concentrating in cycle education in schools and community initiatives.
Well-known Kiwi MTB'er and offroad triathlete, Mark "Cabin" Leishman is the RIG coordinator. The scheme is a prototype that will roll out to other New Zealand regions in the future.
