Steve and Gillian, the owners of Alpin Motel, are avid MTB riders and if you check out their website, you can see pictures of their cycle tour of Vietnam. As Alpin is one of the motels closest to the forest, you can ride directly to the trails via a very short road ride. Maps are available from the front desk to make navigation easier.

Your hosts are Kevin and Connie at the Birchwood Spa Motel on Sala St. We have a lot of mountainbikers coming to stay with us and have supported the last two mountain bike maps with advertising. Sala St is a great area to stay if you are wanting to get straight into the forest and not worry about a vehicle. Our local short cut to the bottom of Long Mile Rd is very handy but not well known. We have four townhouses which have their own garaging - great for people who love their bikes to be safe at night, and somewhere dry where they can work on them if necessary. YHA Rotorua offers clean, modern accommodation in the CBD with plenty of mountain bike storage. They have recently added a couple of stands so you can work on your bikes if required. YHA has supported many MTB events. Accommodation ranges from shared rooms to private rooms with en-suite. Two fully self-contained group units available also, sleeping a total of 26 people in each.
